Brouwerij De Molen Mout & Mocca
'Malt and Mocca' (as I'm told the Dutch reads) is without doubt one of the most chocolatey, coffee-ish beers I've ever had. It couldn't be more different than their Blikken & Blozen that I had the other day. First off I couldn't help but notice the remarkably 'Christmassy' nose with strong aromas of chocolate and coffee in amongst the deep richness of malt. Colour is a deep, dark brown almost like a stout or a very dark porter. Both head retention and carbonation are on the down-low, and I could have wished for a little more of the latter. This strong 11.6% beer is actually infused with coffee *and* natural mocca according to the ingredients, so those flavours definitely dominate, leading to a pronounced aftertaste. I enjoyed this beer, but it's not something I would drink regularly - especially in the evening (this explains why I was awake nearly all night, darn it!) Not Recommended.
